Dr. B.S. Sree Kumar, a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a rank holder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Kerala apart from being registered as a Certified Public Accountant in Public Practice with the National Board of Accountant and Auditors, Tanzania. Dr. B.S. Sreekumar is also an MBA in Finance and has qualified himself as Doctor in Philosophy (PhD) in Finance Management.
Dr. B.S. Sree Kumar was a Member of the Education and Publication Committee of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors.
He is also the Executive Director of M/s Unique Financial Services Ltd., a leading Financial Consultancy company in Tanzania.
He is also the Director of M/s Unique Academy Ltd., a leading I.T. training college in Tanzania.
Visiting professor at the faculty of law, University of Dar es Salaam.
He is also a patron of Balakrishna Foundation actively involved in social and charitable work in Tanzania.
Balakrishna Sreekumar & Co. is a firm originally incorporated in Tanzania since 1945, with the primary objective of providing audit, assurance and compliance services to the business community and Government sector.
The firm started in 1945 as Shah & Shah, which was re-named to Tanna Somaiya in 1971. We were the correspondent firm of Pricewaterhouse from 1981 to 1997 when they merged with Coopers & Lybrand. In 2003 the firm’s name was changed to Tanna Sreekumar & Co and in 2018 to Balakrishna Sreekumar & Co. We were associated with Morison International from 2003 to 2011 and with Grant Thornton from 2015 to 2018.
As the Managing Partner of Balakrishna Sreekumar & Co. I humbly extend my gratitude to all our clients who has been working in tandem with our team to ensure that their accounting records match International standards and they comply with the Tanzania Tax Laws. As one of the oldest firms in the country, we have come a long way. When I took over as the Managing partner, 20 years ago, we had a modest 42 clients, which stands at over 250 now. However it is not the quantum of clients that we aim for, it is a group of satisfied complying clients. We have been adding new clients every year and it has always been a challenge to add new quality clients as we undertake a rigorous KYC before admitting new clients.
We have always strived to keep up our motto of “value for money” and “seeing beyond numbers”. We, at Balakrishna Sreekumar & Co., have continuously invested time and effort in ensuring "real value for money" for our clients. The just concluded survey with our clients has given us an overall rating of 97.80%. While this is a matter of pride, the team is determined to have a 100% score in the upcoming years. The audit by National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) conducted in March 2020, gave us an “EXCELLENT” rating.
The list of achievements can go on, but as I believe, "we are made wise not by recollections of the past, but by the responsibilities of the future". In our journey for wealth creation for our clients, we will strive to achieve it in a noble and sustained manner without cutting corners. As always, we will be guided by this philosophy and will continue to strive to "exceed your expectations".
Whatever little we have achieved is solely due to the whole-hearted support given by you, our dear clients, active partners in our business and my team of hardworking staffs with excellent pro-activeness, high level of professionalism and ethics so vital for our line of activity, which I am so proud of.
Not forgetting our social commitments to this beautiful country, we have continued our contribution in providing the best infrastructure and other facilities at Maktaba Primary School right in the heart of the city proving them with clean drinking water, proper sanitation facilities, redoing the entire building with tiled flooring, new class rooms, library, proper electrical fittings and dining hall for the students to eat. It is our small return gift to this wonderful country.
